STEFANIA BOEMI hand painted vase Donna Rosalia
This unique vase is a contemporary interpretation of the Sicilian Moorish girl, an iconic artistic production of the island linked to the Arab tradition. This vase is made of terracotta or unglazed ceramic. It highlights the natural features of the woman, whose face is framed by a crown, fruit and flowers. Beautiful and fascinating. The vase is painted in "blu oltremare". One of the woman's eyes is highlighted by a gold cross. which highlights one of the woman's eyes.
This anthropomorphic vase is made entirely by hand and painted in a monochrome shade, rich in natural pigments and resin binders that ensure an intense depth of color. Only the eyes are glazed, so they stand out and emphasize the beauty of the gaze. The work is inspired by ancient Sicilian legends of love and revenge between a Moor and a girl.
This vase was created by the Sicilian artist Stefania Boemi . She looks for her materials among objects of the past that convey emotions linked to memory. They are Sicilian things, selected, untied and reassembled, stripped and repainted, disassembled and reassembled. She observes and studies what best characterizes the island's traditions and re-evaluates their uses. The main idea is to bring back to life previously familiar objects that have fallen into disuse. Each piece is assembled by hand and transformed into a unique work.
