Original gifts for Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day every year on February 14 as a holiday of love. It is a day when gifts, flowers and sweets are traditionally sent as a symbol of love. The holiday is probably derived from the Lupercalia festival celebrated in ancient Rome. On the eve of this day, slips with the girls' names were inserted into the "love urn". Each young man then drew a card, and the girl whose name he drew was to become his "darling" in the following year.

Legend also says that this day came to be known as Saint Valentine's Day thanks to the priest Valentine. Claudius II, the ruler of Rome, forbade his soldiers to marry or be engaged. He was afraid that they would want to stay at home with their families and not go to fight. Valentine defied the ruler and secretly married young couples. He was arrested and later executed on February 14. The feast of Lupercalia merged with the celebrations of the martyrdom of St. Valentine to create a romantic holiday that is now celebrated on February 14.
