Kintsugi is a Japanese artistic technique applied to broken pottery. The damaged part is repaired with varnish sprinkled or mixed with powdered gold, silver or platinum. The philosophy of kintsugi is to consider damage and the necessary repair of an object as part of its history rather than something it hides.
