PHILIPPE STARCK & CASSINA 2020: the new Fenc-e Nature outdoor collection

Fenc-e Nature continues the journey taken by Philippe Starck and Cassina towards a new conception of the sofa and more avant-garde materials. Defined by Starck as a “lifestyle collection of carefree elegance” , Fenc-e Nature includes an armchair, a sofa bed, a three-seater sofa and a coffee table in two different heights.

Philippe Starck celebrates harmony and osmosis with nature through an outdoor collection inspired by nature and very respectful of its environment. The selection of the most natural materials and high quality create durability and timelessness. The Fenc-e Nature collection is characterized by an almost organic character: primitive, shapely and tactile elements, such as the generous backrest in solid teak. The individual backrests of each seat are hand-woven from rope in a pattern designed especially for this project; the backrest is also available in natural willow, a living material never used in this context and reinforcing the bond with nature.

Fenc-e Nature is particularly comfortable thanks to the innovative SoloSoff® material used in the padding: made of air-blown polyester fiber and memory foam. The non-deformability of the crystal structure of the fiber, together with the elasticity of polyurethane, offers absolute softness. This is the result of long research and efforts to find a material for outdoor use that could guarantee the same properties as feathers.

The comfort of the generous seats and backrests is also underlined by the possibility of adjusting the backrest to two different positions: conversation or relaxation. An elegant gesture through and a simple mechanism inspired by Asian architecture and nature itself: teak wood in the shape of a natural branch, fixed with two carved wooden pegs.
