How to make your bedroom heaven on earth
People are like flowers. Some need light, others shade, some need a lot of water, others need a little. It's the same with us humans. Some like a bright bedroom with large windows without curtains, others can't fall asleep without the blinds drawn and prefer a smaller, more intimate environment. Some can't fall asleep on a pillow, others need pillows like the princess and the pea. Where do you belong? Do you prefer a bed full of duvets, comforters, blankets, bedspreads and pillows or do you prefer to sleep the "Southern" way, covered only with a large sheet and your hand under your head rather than a fully stuffed pillow? Either way, we have one thing in common. You can't live a good life without quality sleep.

We have some tips and inspiration for you on how to improve your sleep quality and make your bedroom cozier at the same time.
1. Clean up
If you don't have the capacity for the entire apartment, at least start in the bedroom, it's worth it. Remove dusty items from under the bed. Get rid of things that you haven't used for months or even years and haven't missed because you didn't even know you had them. Definitely move the vacuum cleaner from the bedroom next to the closet to somewhere else. Before you find another (un)suitable place for it, definitely use it, even in places where you don't want to have it. Sometimes it doesn't hurt to vacuum the bed and bedding, if it doesn't go through the washing or cleaning process regularly. Clothes that are lying around in various places belong either in the closet, dressing room, or at least on a mute servant. Try straightening or replacing that picture that's hanging crookedly - pictures aren't eternal, they're supposed to hang on the wall as long as we enjoy them. And change the light bulb in the lamp that hasn't been on for a year. Finally, cover the bed with fresh sheets. Open the window. Wow!
2. Choose the right bedding
Find out which bedding is most comfortable for you. How to choose the right bedding? Start by choosing the right material. Satin? Macassar? Cotton? Do you know brushed cotton? Satin is shiny, thin, smooth. It exudes glamour and extravagance. Macassar is actually fine cotton. It is very pleasant, soft and colorful. Classic cotton is harder, ideal if you like a country style. And what are the advantages of linen bedding? It is no less important to choose the right size of the sheet .
Which color do you like and which evokes comfort and coziness? Green is definitely a must-have in the bedroom. Green is a very pleasant color for sleep, it regenerates and gives us fresh energy. Anyone trying to have a baby should have red in their bedroom, the color of sexual energy. Just red accents, such as a pillow, bedspread or rug. Blue, on the other hand, is calming and is suitable for those who suffer from restless sleep.
If you like a well-made bed, then definitely combine large pillows with smaller ones. And a duvet, big enough for two or if you like to have it all to yourself, then definitely two smaller ones.
3. Accessories
Decorate your bedroom with the right accessories. Pillows, bedspreads, paintings, figurines, wallpaper, you can use all of them to make your bedroom cozy.
Are you more of a princess type? You definitely need lots of small and large pillows for the bed. They can be chosen in one shade, but also very colorful, glittery, shiny, with rhinestones. An original lamp and a colorful chest of drawers on which crystal bottles and all the perfumes you are currently using are displayed. On the bed you have shiny satin sheets and a distinctive bedspread .
As a dreamer, you can choose soft pastel colors, in the style of Provence or vintage, flowers, plain knitted bedspreads and plaids. A soft bathrobe and crocheted socks are a must. Instead of a bedside table, you can put two old chairs or rocking chairs by the bed, a photo from your youth, with family and friends, a nice book and an old mechanical alarm clock in pastel blue.
Those who like to travel will choose colorful accessories, floral and bird patterns, large colorful vases, oriental paintings or wood carvings and perforated lamps. Don't be afraid of a few strips of dark wallpaper with large flowers and hummingbirds. Put that nice wooden carved picture from your trip to Java on the wall and a statuette from Bali on the chest of drawers that you bought so cheaply from a dealer on the beach.

Modern bedrooms today are decorated very sparingly, like Japanese bedrooms. A low bed, hanging lights, plain linen sheets, preferably white or cream, a large abstract painting on the wall, built-in wardrobes that blend into the wall and are practically invisible. You can afford a silent servant in the corner, or, in contrast to the modern furnishings, an old-fashioned, worn-out chair with a shirt from yesterday's party lying on it. Don't cover the bed, just throw a faux fur throw over it. It looks great!
Bedroom decoration is always chosen based on your own taste and perception, not on trends. You can go against the grain, but you must always feel "at home".
4. Bedroom light
Be aware of what makes you sleep better. Night lights from the street and waking up in the morning with the first rays of sunlight? Or do you prefer darkness, closed curtains and waking up in the morning in the twilight? If you are the first type, you can have windows without curtains or curtains only as decoration on the sides of the windows. They can be heavy velvet curtains or linen, without curtains, or light transparent ones, with which you can easily draw the windows. If you want to fall asleep in the dark, choose blackout curtains, blinds, curtains. You can match the color to the bed, for example, if you have a box spring, to the sheets, to the wallpaper or an oblong chest of drawers against the wall.
The lamps on the bedside table are trendyly hung from the ceiling. It looks airy and the lamps give off more light. Touch-sensitive rechargeable table lamps are also very practical, which you can move from one corner to another as needed. We choose the ceiling light very carefully. It has long ceased to be the central light, because we often do not turn it on for days (and especially nights). It is more of a decoration and additional light. A nice lamp for an Asian bedroom is, for example, a paper lampshade or a Moroccan perforated light. Don't be afraid to hang a large light and give the room a dominant feature. Ceiling lights that we know from the 80s, or built-in LEDs, are very trendy today. Speaking of built-in, LED strips on the cabinet are also very practical.
5. Fresh air and scent
It is very important to regularly ventilate your bedroom, especially before going to sleep. Give your bedroom fresh air and scent it. How to choose the right home fragrance? Choose a gentle one that does not irritate your senses, but simply "kicks" them into lying down and dreaming. You can light a beautiful scented candle that will give your bedroom both a pleasant scent and a cozy light. As if you were lighting a fireplace. Perfume your bedroom with exoticism, the Far East, the fresh scent of a forest from your surroundings or the captivating scent of summer Tuscany, it's up to you, the possibilities are countless.
