Interior trends 2021
With every new year comes something new, something inspiring. Something your home may never have needed before, but right now you absolutely must have. And today, refreshing your home is more relevant than ever. When you’ve been staring at the same walls for almost a year, you want to paint, redecorate, or even completely replace everything. Interiors are influenced by everything from fashion to lifestyle. Every day, new design trends emerge based on necessity and circumstances.
In the first part of our mini-series, you will learn how our interiors are changing, not only in their appearance.

MULTIFUNCTIONALITY
Home has become everything to us in the past year. The role of home has evolved and adapted drastically – not only do we live in our homes, but we now also work, exercise, and even vacation in them. Home is no longer a sacred space where one simply relaxes and unwinds. Now, a home must function in a multifunctional way that allows life to unfold within its four walls.

This means having an office chair that is comfortable enough for long hours of sitting, but also aesthetically pleasing. And ideally one that can be recycled as a dining chair or piano chair. Or a dining table with slim drawers that are ideal for storing a laptop. A modern tool for adapting space is screens or partition walls, which can be used to “break up” an open space and create rooms within one room. A cleverly designed and placed screen can create privacy without completely closing off the space, while also having a decorative effect.

STUDY
Working from home has become almost a necessity for most people, and as a result, the idea of a home office is evolving. Previously, people would work occasionally from the kitchen counter or from nooks in other rooms, but now they are looking for a dedicated space for a fully functioning home office. The design of home offices and work nooks has changed significantly as we place more emphasis on environment, mood, order and comfort.
Dedicated home office spaces allow for a clear separation between work time and family time. We still work from home and don’t live in an office. Technology combined with intelligent design is an absolute must. People want a room that is smart, representative and has a different color tone from the rest of the house, while being equipped and highly functional. They want to feel different, they want to balance home and work life, even in the same space.
Don't forget about the representative walls behind the desk that are visible during video conferences. A nice picture or an organized bookcase will suffice.

OASIS OF PEACE
In living rooms, we are moving away from traditional entertaining and dining areas in favor of more relaxed arrangements. Playful, even artistic furniture works particularly well here, helping to break up the space and create a more fluid environment. Materials and finishes have also adapted to this trend. The glam and opulence of shiny brass and lacquer are being replaced by organic materials such as natural wood, industrial metals and raw stone or linen.
For upholstered furniture, we choose suede, wool or bouclé, rounder and softer shapes. New neutral tones are popular - ivory combined with other tones such as rust, pink, beige, mustard and orange. Using these colors as the basis of the interior allows you to highlight other pieces such as pillows, rugs and chairs in bolder colors, which can be changed as needed.
