Czech elegance in Milan
Lasvit at Fuorisalone 2024
Salone del Mobile Milano, one of the most prestigious design and furniture fairs in the world, has once again opened its doors to enthusiastic visitors and exhibitors. This year's edition, which took place in April, brought innovative design concepts, vibrant furniture pieces and dazzling light installations to the spotlight. Among all this, the Czech representation also shone, with brands such as Lasvit becoming the stars of the fair.
Czech Lasvit stunned Milan and won one of the most prestigious awards
In the competition for the best installation, Lasvit won the prestigious Fuorisalone Award at Milan Design Week, beating out giants such as Google, Zegna and Amazon. This award has several categories. But the best installation is one of the most prestigious. The jury selects the sixteen most memorable projects from 1200 projects, and then the public votes.
Palazzo Isimbardi, Corso Monforte, 35, 20122 Milano
Leon Jakimič's company from Nový Bor presented an exhibition in Milan called Re/Creation, which was incorporated into the epic location of Palazzo Isimbardi. Visitors admired the craftsmanship and handcraft with industrial dimensions of objects made using the laid glass technique.

The outdoor installation Porta by Maxim Velčovský, Lasvit's artistic director, is a monumental work that uses the brand's unique experience in creating handmade glass "blocks". During the production of the glass, the author of the installation Maxim Velčovský drew his ideas in sand. These were then melted into the glass and remained on its surface as a relief. The glass thus became a 'canvas' and provided the opportunity to create relief surfaces and large areas. This method of rendering allows for the creation of large-format displays.
This installation, produced in the largest glass furnace in Europe, not only demonstrates the technical skills of the Novobork glassmakers, but also illustrates the brand's ability to respond to any request in terms of size and variability, while ensuring precision and high artistic content.

At Design Week, Lasvit also showed a new collection from the Swedish studio Claesson Koivisto Rune made of technical glass, a limited edition of the Neverending Glory lamp by Jan Plecháč and Henry Wielgus, and a design concept for a lamp by Maria Čulenová, combining glass and wood.

Lasvit is a Czech glass brand that brings thousands of years of glassmaking craftsmanship into the future by producing sublime glass and lighting creations that are loved all over the world. “ We design and produce original glass lighting installations, glassware collections and art glass for exceptional architecture. With our work, we strive to find what is overshadowed by superficial beauty. We are all about meaningful, human, and even mind-healing experiences – a source of joy and fulfillment that material goods often cannot replace .”
